BirdWings ~ Rumi
Your grief for what you’ve lost lifts a mirror up to where you’re bravely working. Expecting the worst, you look, and instead, here’s the joyful face you’ve been wanting to see. Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralyzed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, The two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birdwings. |
What to Expect:
We meet twice each month in a private sacred space. Each meeting will be: a ritual gathering where we create an altar to support our intentions and a closed container for our work together. There is an opening circle and the facilitators offer a prompt to explore one aspect of our birth healing; each woman sets her own intention for the session. We may chant, drum, and sing. We hold time and space for movement. We have silence as well as recorded music designed to support our journeys. There are sacred witnessing chairs so that you may choose to be witness or be witnessed at any time. At the end of our movement time, we take individual space to integrate, then come back together for a circle of sharing and re-grounding before we close the sacred space and step out into our evening. Most talking will happen at the opening and closing circles; the time in the middle is when we put away words for a little while and each woman gets to be with what her body wants, stillness or movement, quiet or sounding, space alone or in connected touch with others. Singing, sounding, crying are all welcome. There will be prompts offered and guided exercises, and women are free at any time to move and sound however they want. Women may spontaneously draw or write throughout the session. Each woman will be supported in creating her own projects for further processing, if she wishes. This might include art, journaling, creative writing/poetry, songwriting, or developing a personalized healing ritual. Opportunities for sharing these projects will be available when desired. |
